Did You Get an Invitation?

Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Revelations 19:7 ESV)

Today I found an interesting site on my phone. It was advertising “Destination Weddings” which is a wedding of the bride and groom’s choice in another city, country or even a deserted island. One of my grandsons had his in the beautiful hills of Tennessee. The lodge we stayed in with most of our family looked like a giant cabin. The decorations kept a log cabin feel throughout. I could see wildlife from every window, as well as a giant lake.

As any bride and groom, they plan for months or hire a wedding planner such as D’Concierge weddings. Just the name sounds fancy, doesn’t it? When they find the venue, the planner sends “Save a Date” notes to all prospective guests.

There are instructions for even how the dress will transfer without wrinkles. As the big day approaches and plenty of money has been spent, who pays? The Father pays an enormous amount. Why would he spend such a ridiculous amount of money? We all know why; he loves his son or daughter that much.

Now I want to let you in on a wonderful truth from Revelations.

It says, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

I wondered what this wedding supper would be like. I was curious since I like to fix meals with my best china, cloth napkins and a beautiful centerpiece. Would an angel deliver the invitation to me personally? When would this happen? No one knows when accept the Father alone knows the date of this wonderful wedding. So no “save the date” cards needed. My goal is to be ready and waiting when the groom to arrive to take his bride. We know the bride is the church, dressed in royal garments, and Jesus is the groom. My wedding because I am invited to the feast that will be served in no less than “Destination Heaven” and they set the table for the supper of Jesus the Lamb. For all this extravagance, who can afford it? And how much would it cost entertaining millions of believers (the Church) that have accumulated through the centuries?

So who is going to pay?

Our Savior Jesus Christ, who was crucified, put in a borrowed tomb and on the third day, he rose from the grave. The cost for the Father? He gave his only son to die and spilled his blood to wash away our sins. God’s one and only son, Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 ESV)

Do you have an invitation? It’s already paid for.
